The Meditation Chair

"Down on the river banks a monk was meditating under a bright yellow umbrella. When it rained he sat in a puddle of water. Imagining the monks disagreeable feelings I built a chair for him using my system and waterproof marine plywood. With a twinkle in his eyes, the monk took the chair and continued meditation.
Over 40 years later I’m meeting people who practice meditation and Yoga and often just need to relax."

"I believe this so-called “meditation chair” symbolizes a proper space or central place of one’s own world – in an often disorderly, profane environment. I imagine that this chair should belong to only one person."

The Meditation chair reemerged some time ago at my sisters. Jessica teaches Samvahan and is much in contact with the art of meditation. She remembered the story of Quint making a chair for a Monk in Thailand and asked him if he could make the chair again. Whilst Quint was invested in the Meditation chair I was far too preoccupied by the Juju table and didn't quite "dig" the project, I'm awful at meditating, the sole thought makes me itch all over, so... meditation chair I was all like… lalalala…
Anyway, Quint came to see me to work on the Juju table and secretly, whilst I was away for the weekend, made me a Meditation chair.
Well, all I can say is since, I've reconsidered meditation, which I new so little about it*.

The Meditation Chair is handmade by Quint, as he quotes "with my heart in my hand"
Each piece unique and "…should belong to only one person"
